Organic red wine good for health
Organic red wine
Documented beneficial effect on health
It has long puzzled scientists in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases: Among French men (Especially from southern France) there is a very low incidence of cardiovascular-in spite of the fact that the lifestyle at the edges should give rise to believe the opposite, since the diet is rich in saturated fatty acids, and a large part of the population are smokers. We are talking about actually "Mediterranean paradox".
After some wonder and debate came to forward to, that there might be a protective factor in the Mediterranean diet, and attention was rather quickly turned against the components of red wine.
It has been argued that the protection against cardiovascular, as red wine is believed to be able to give, derived from flavonoidernes antioxidant effect.
LDL (low-density lipoprotein) transports most of the cholesterol found in the blood. Oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, LDL is the first step towards atherosclerosis-the underlying cause of diseases of the coronary arteries, stroke and other cardiovascular-related diseases.
It has been shown that the phenols contained in red wine, are very effective in inhibiting LDL oxidation. Revels flavonoids increases the blood antioxidant effect by 15%.
An epidemiological trials in the Netherlands has examined the association between heart disease in the elderly and the intake of flavonoid-grants.
Anthocyanin is a group of flavonoids with antioxidant effect. The reason why fruit extract (of e.g. Blueberry, red grape, cherry and blackcurrant) has great antioxidant effect is precisely their anhocyanin content.
